Q: In The Satin Sash, what exactly is being negotiated between Toni and her lover Grey?
The three winners of the previous contest knew that in The Satin Sash, Grey and Toni are negotiating having a threesome with Heath! For answering correctly our winners each win a signed copy of Red Hot Summer.
From the excerpt:
When she spoke, her voice hummed with arousal. “You’ve done this before, haven’t you? Threesomes?”
Grey seemed ready to smile. “I have.”

So I got my copy edits and have three days left before I must turn them in. The best way to deal with edits, I now realize, is with chocolates. Lots of chocolates. But even then, dang it, edits are painful!
There’s this strange feeling you get when you read the book again after a few months. It’s exciting, to read that familiar sentence, and yet it’s also terribly tempting. Who’s to keep me from tearing it all apart and writing it all over again?
Hubby must tie my hands, and not to pleasure me.

I think I owe my life to my critique partners!
See, I’m a bit of a case when it comes to my books. It’s a love and hate thing between us. What I love I end up hating, and once I hate it I fear I can never love it again. Which is false!
You see, there are some amazing people out there, owners of fresh eyes, keen minds, and observation skills, who are so close to God they will actually cheer you on even while you’re writing trash! They will tell you awesome things about your muse – who you want to slap because she’s handing you drivel - but most of all, these amazing friends will hold your hand until the storms pass.
And they do pass, all storms pass.
And once they’re gone your eyes become sharp again, your heart is mellow to your words (again), and you can finally get that project back on track! Whew.
Wylie , Karen, Sierra, Sheryl, Robin, R.G, Maya R, Lilli, Lynn Raye . . .
I’m convinced you guys are angels!
What about you? Who are the angels looking out for you?

Everyone talks about acquiring an editor – all writers want an editor. We think of ways to lure them, we fantasize of friending them, we go to great lengths just to get to talk to them. But who talks about losing an editor?
Last week, I learned that my editor at Silhouette Desire, Diana Ventimiglia, was leaving Harlequin forever. I can’t even begin to say how saddened I felt. Diana is one classy lady, and one superb and smart editor! She read my first Desire submission back when the story was completely different than the way it will end up being published next year and she gave me some fantastic pointers to fit the story into the line.
I will miss her. Sorely. But I wish her the best in her new venture – and eagerly await to know the name of that one magic-wand wielder, that sharp-eyed hawk scanvenging for errors, that angel in disguise; my wonderful new Desire editor, a fearless princess willing to tackle and whip my sorry little pages into shape.
Update to follow.

I’m currently in the process of revising THE FEATHER, my second NAL Heat erotic romance, dealing with a pair of reincarnated lovers whose tumultuous pasts keep them from having a future together. I’m an absolute LOVER of reincarnation themes.
Just say ‘soul mate’ and you’ve got me at ‘soul’.
What is it about past lives that enthrall us so?
Is it the inexplicable chemistry between two people? The strange feeling of kinship and sense of knowing someone after sharing only a few words? Those delicious stories by the bonfire about other-worldly experiences?
The thought of dying frightens me. Not a little, but a lot.
Yet when I review all the books dealing with the fascinating subject matter of reincarnation, I feel a little better thinking, knowing, that if I don’t get it right this time around, I might have another chance later. I feel better thinking that my SOUL MATE (that’s you, Mr. Red) and I will be reunited again, somewhere, sometime, after we’re parted. I feel better thinking that all the people I love and am surrounded with have been with me before, and will be with me again.
What are your thoughts on past lives and reincarnation? Does anyone else believe in having loved your lover long before?

I just heard the sad news about Kate Duffy’s passing. I’ve been sitting here for a full day in shock, wondering what I could say that would be even remotely worthy of Kate Duffy, but I know for sure I can’t say nothing.
So to Kate’s family, her friends, her colleagues, her publisher and her authors, please receive my deepest condolences.
Kate Duffy, your reach was so far and so wide, the void you leave here is immense. And yet you also left us with so much! To think of all the books you read, and believed in, and that have been in my hands because you found them.
Kate Duffy, it is said, rescued my most favorite book ever – Whitney, My Love by Judith McNaught – from the slush pile. Kate was the very first editor I ever met in person at RWA, and she’s the very first one I spoke to on the phone when I was lucky to final one year in Lori Foster’s Brava contest. Kate Duffy was a driving force in romance, a respected voice and opinion, a no nonsense woman with wits and smarts and experience. She was awesome and I feel really blessed to have been able to meet her.
Rest in peace, Kate Duffy. You will be sorely missed.

Last week I learned the title of my upcoming anthology with Lora Leigh, Lorie O’Claire, and Alexis Grant is MEN OF DANGER.
I love it!
Sexy title, sexy stories, sexy men. Surely that’ll make any woman’s day.

Thanks to everyone who participated! Our winner is :
Carol Thompson
Q: In Color My Heart, why does Billy linger outside the woman’s apartment as she goes inside?
Hint: COLOR MY HEART excerpt
Winner Blurb:
The winner of the contest knew that in Color My Heart, Billy waits for an indication from his neighbor before he leaves; a sign that she’d be all right. And boy, did he get it! For answering correctly our winner will receive a $20 dlls. Amazon Gift Certificate.
From the excerpt:
Billy lingered there as she entered, waiting for some sort of indication, a sign that she’d be all right.
She turned to him slowly, her eyes downcast. Then her lashes rose and her gaze—now a vivid, electric blue—shocked the air right out of him. And then she jumped him.
Also, be sure to check out my newest The Satin Sash contest for more prizes. Thanks for participating and good luck!
